HP DreamScreen Device priced at Rs. 19,999 in India

HP has introduced a new interactive device dubbed DreamScreen that can be used as a digital photo frame and can also fetch social network updates. New DreamScreen is an interactive digital device that has icon-based touch interface with a 10-inch touchscreen, reported ET. It will require Internet connectivity to perform several functions like fetching status updates, and also promises to offer IPTV service in India. HP DreamScreen will be available in India from November 25 in about 60 cities for an MRP of Rs. 19,999.

HP DreamScreen is a several-in-one like solution that offers to work as a Digital Frame, Internet Radio, Alarm Clock, Weather Report, Facebook Updates and even a Video player. Load all your multi-media content and you can enjoy using it as your touchscreen tablet. Mind you, HP has not called it a tablet.

Will the HP DreamScreen compete with iPad and Galaxy Tab? "While the iPad is a more personal device, DreamScreen is more oriented towards a shared environment and designed for use by families," said Sunil Dutt, HP India vice president and general manager (Personal Systems Group).

Dutt stated that DreamScreen' s concept, software and interface were developed in India. HP has partnered with Airtel and Tata Teleservices for Internet Connecitivity solutions. Apalya, Edurite, India Games, India Today, NDTV and Yatra have also committed to offer content.

Samsung comes with the cheapest 3G full touch phone

Samsung is on a roll these days, coming out with cheap and touch screen phones one after the other. But what makes its latest offering, the Samsung Star Nano, special is its 3G feature, priced at an affordable Rs. 7320.

Among its specs, it has 2.6 inches QVGA display, 35MB internal memory (expandable up to 16GB), 1.3 megapixel camera, music recognition, FM radio, video recording. The device also supports class 10 GPRS and EDGE technology along with Bluetooth feature.

Compared with its previous touch screen phone that Samsung released few days ago, Samsung Champ, this device has a bigger screen display and double the memory.

For those hooked on to social networking, this phone integrates instant chat messenger facilities like GTalk, AIM, and Palringo Chat.

Packing in a wide range of specifications, the Star Nano 3G is a compact handset and comes with few additional features like English dictionary, mobile prayer, weather forecast and share market trends.

"The launch of Star Nano 3G is a significant landmark for Samsung as it represents our most affordable 3G touch screen handset as well as strengthens our portfolio of 3G enabled handsets when the country gears up for the roll-out of 3G services very soon", said Ranjit Yadav, Director- Mobile & IT, Samsung India.

Review of latest Spice S7000 Touchscreen Phone

Spice Mobiles has launched its latest touchscreen phone, the S7000 in India - complete with an array of features that include a 3.2 inch WQVGA screen, a 3.2 megapixel camera and unlimited phone book entries.

The launch of this phone comes just a few months after the company launched its 12 megapixel camera phone in India, the S-1200. 

As for the S7000, it comes with 19MB of internal memory which can be expanded up to 16GB with the help of a T-Flash memory card. The phone is capable of video recording at 15fps - although the resolution of the recording hasn't been specified. 

Also, the camera doesn't have a flash. On the good side of things, the phone supports an array of video formats that includes RMVB, FLV, WMV, AVI, MP4, 3GP, MOV, DAT and RM. It supports 720P videos as well. 

Other features include Zi predictive text, 1000 SMS memory, email facility, JAVA, incoming call guard, FM radio, Bluetooth v2.0. The phone can be used as a webcam as well. The phone is also social networking ready and comes preinstalled with Yahoo, Wapedia, VuClip, Facebook, Nimbuzz, Reuters, Ibibo, OperaMini and Snaptu applications.

It has an 880 mAh battery that provides up to 220 hrs standby and up to 3.5 hrs talk time. As of now, the phone is available only in white color. As for the price, this will set you back by Rs. 7,499. 

Spice has also announced that it is partnering with Disney for mobile content for this handset. This means that the S7000 will come loaded with Disney content as well. As of now, the phone will come with exclusive content of Prince of Persia- Sands of Time, the latest Disney movie. The content includes themes, wallpapers and ringtones.

First Samsung Dual Sim Touchscreen B5722 in India

Samsung has announced the launch of its latest touchscreen handset, the B5722 in India. The device happens to be the first touchscreen from the company to support two SIM cards. The phone will also be known as the B5722 DUOS.

The phone boasts of features like a decent 3.2 mega pixel camera, 30 MB memory (expandable to 8 GB with SD card) and a very respectable 14 hours of talk and a 20 day standby time. The B5722 is a GSM+GSM dual SIM phone and the user will be able to use two GSM SIM cards in a single phone. Users can switch from one SIM to another without having to switch off the handset.


Let's now take a look at the other features of the device. Being a touchscreen device, it runs Samsung's proprietary TouchWiz UI atop Samsung's OS. It supports various IM platforms for social networking and has FM radio as well. It also comes loaded with an advanced mobile tracking software that will help you locate your phone in case it is stolen. The B5722 boasts of an updated version of the mobile tracking software. The new version can actually track the location of your cellphone within the radius of a few miles.

 The B5722 has a 2.8 inch QVGA screen that can display 262k colors. It also boasts of Samsung's DnSE sound engine, ensuring high music playback ability. The 30MB of internal memory can be expanded with the help of microSD cards. It supports GPRS class10 and EDGE class 10. 3G support is however missing. Bluetooth happens to be the only short-range wireless connectivity option.

The Samsung B5722 DUAL SIM has been priced at Rs. 11,680 and is now on sale.
